GPRS was contacted by an environmental contractor for work at a gas station in western Kentucky. Cathodic protection was to be installed on existing underground storage tanks. Prior to installing the cathodic protection, the contractor asked GPRS to locate any electric or other utilities in the nearby area.

The locating was completed using the RD 7000 to locate live power, and the 400 MHz antenna to locate other utilities. Existing electric was located around the perimeter of the UST’s and running from the gas pumps to the building. The gas lines running from the tank to the pumps were also located. By locating these utilities, the contractor was able to establish a plan of where to drill and where not to drill. The work was completed in a safe manner.
